ST's Intro:
I have no idea when, where or
how I met Bulla, but every few years, I would run into him, and we'd
have a good laugh. And that's Bulla. He treats everyone as a long-lost
friend, and he leaves you smiling. And the man is always helping
people. He's just a really good guy, and I'm grateful I can run into
him — in this chat room — every few days.
Here's Bulla:
I'm just a local boy who
graduated from upper Kapalama Heights in the late '70's, aka Kamehameha
Schools. Fortunately, I went on to UH and graduated with degrees a few
years later. While at UH I had the good fortune of working in the
housing department, and that is where i met Tracy Donovan (who was and
still is a jock-ette) while she was beating guys playing one on one
basketball in klum gym.
I have done a little bit of everything from owning a construction
company with 25 employees, worked in the investment industry for a few
years, worked with Tommy Hilfiger representing their golf clothing
line, worked with New Era Cap company, did real estate in the 80's,
consultant work in the '90's. Currently i am a director of security for
a local hotel chain. i also work for a company that helps high school
students get to college, www.student-athleteshowcase.com,
and
I work with student athletes from all sports. this is just another
option for families to consider when they are looking at what choices
they have in getting their son/daughter the exposure they need to get
in front of college coaches. I do speaking engagements from weddings to
baby parties, to award banquets and live auctions.
During the summer we have a group, Hawaii Athletes In Action, that
takes local high school football players to mainland football camps. we
have been doing this for the past two years, and the boys get to
compete in full contact scrimmages and drills in front of a variety of
college coaches/scouts. this helps get these kids the 'looks' that they
need from coaches. also, they get a taste of 'college life', living in
the dorms, eating at the school cafeteria, and having curfews.
I have been a UH fan from the days of Nu'u, Jim Asmus, Ken Untermann
and have watched many battles on the field. I can still remember the
Hula-T, coach price, alex kaloi, rick wagner and others....wow.
A few years ago i met an angel and was lucky enough to marry her this
past christmas, who said big kids don't love christmas? haha. we
currently cheer 'da beast', our son Ryan, who is a senior at St. Louis.
although I graduated a Warrior, i will die a crusader. IMUA CRUSADERS.
The warrior beat has been a blessing for me, to communicate with all of
the other UH fans that are out there, not only in hawaii, but all over
the world. it is part of my daily routine to check on everyone, see who
is having a bad hair day on the blog, and get on with my other
business. i enjoy talking with everyone, and i have to admit, the blog
bash is growing, and growing. I wish everyone only the best....and
thank you for putting up with me and da beast. GO WARRIORS!!!! COLT FOR
HEISMAN!!!
